Move Like Michael Jackson; BBC3 (2009)

This 6-part dance series which transmitted in December 2009, hosted by Radio 1's Reggie Yates, featured a nationwide search to find Britain's most talented and original dancers who can demonstrate they have the spirit, showmanship and technical ability of Michael himself.

Auditions kicked off in Manchester before moving on to Newcastle, Cardiff and Glasgow and culminating in London in October 2009.  The auditions were judged by dance experts, Mark Summers, the European Casting Director for Michael's 'This Is It' concerts, and choreographer Lavelle Smith Jnr, who worked with Michael for over 20 years. Those who had impressed at auditions then faced a nerve wracking callback. They chose just 16 hopefuls to go through to the studio shows.

The 16 finalists then faced a gruelling training schedule, all the while being mentored by Lavelle Smith Jnr himself. The dance acts - from crews to soloists, classically trained to street - were given the chance to perform in a series of shows in front of a packed studio audience, and to be judged by the legend that is Jermaine Jackson, Mark and R&B superstar, Jamelia.

In the final LIVE studio show the decision was put in the hands of the viewers to vote for their favourite act. Who did the public feel best embodied the spirit of Michael Jackson? The winner isn't the dancer who simply mimics Jackson's choreography, but rather someone who can move like him, creating and inventing their own iconic steps and styles to most impress the judges and viewers. With the victorious act winning a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at the official Michael Jackson tribute concert due to take place in London next June, there is everything to dance for. Who can really MOVE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON?
