Remembrance Week - The Big Lottery Fund - Heroes Return 2

9th November, 2012

The Big Lottery Fund has extended its Heroes Return 2 programme. The programme has no fixed deadline for applications. This will ensure Second World War veterans from the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland who have yet to take advantage of the funding opportunity since the programme opened in 2009, now have more time to apply for grants to cover travel and accommodation expenses to enable them to make trips back to places across the world where they served. They can also receive funding to take part in commemorative trips in the UK. For details contact - Heroes Return helpline:

0845 00 00 121 or visit www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/heroesreturn

To date The Big Lottery Fund has awarded more than £25 million to over 51,000 Second World War veterans, their spouses, widows and carers.

Sky 1 pilots Dragons' Den-style property show

20 September, 2012 | By Jake Kanter, Broadcast

Sky 1 has ordered a Dragons' Den-style property show that will pit estate agents against each other to win the chance to sell someone's house.

The pay-TV broadcaster has commissioned Fever Media to make 60-minute TX pilot Let Me Sell Your House (working title), which aims to bring a fresh approach to more traditional property formats.

The primetime programme will see three estate agents vie to represent a seller's house on the market. The one that lands the job will then have a window to get the best price for the house, but if they fail to sell, the losing agents will be given the chance to find a buyer.

The episode is likely to follow a number of different stories over the course of the hour and Fever will attempt to find a diverse array of estate agents and match them with styles of houses they are not experienced in selling.
Let Me Sell Your House is one of Michele Kurland's first original commissions since joining Sky as head of factual entertainment commissioning from FremantleMedia UK's Boundless last year.

It will be overseen by Fever managing director David Mortimer, who was responsible for developing Dragons' Den for BBC2 in 2005.

If the pilot is successful, Sky will commission a full series for next year. The broadcaster has been in the market for business-style formats for some time, but the strategy suffered a setback with the underperformance of The Angel last month, which averaged just 32,200 (0.14%) viewers.
